Seasons

Seasons change.  Mississippi Deer Season is half way over and soon many of us will begin chasing Thunder Chickens (turkeys).  Soon, the time will come for shed hunting and habitat developers will begin the process of making changes for the next deer season.  Seasons change.  It'll get warm (and stay warm), boats will hit the water and bass will start biting.  Seasons change.

The same is true of life.  Seasons change.  Some seasons are filled with family, friends and memory making moments.  Some seasons seem to be filled with struggle and challenge.  Regardless of what comes your way as the seasons change understand that these changes do not take God by surprise.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven..." -
Ecclesiastes 3:1

The author of Ecclesiastes goes on to describe all the things that have a season.  Some good, some that appear to be not so good or even difficult from our perspective.  In the end though, we hope and trust not in our understanding but in God's sovereignty and control over the circumstances of our lives.  We trust in the words on Romans 8:28 that God is "working for the good of those who love Him..."

Friends, as the seasons change remember that God is in control of them and using them for our good.

THINK:

  • What are some things that you are thankful for during this current season in your life?
  • How has God used this season for your "good"?

PRAY

Take a moment to thank the Lord for his goodness and His working for your good.  Ask Him to help you see how He is using the Seasons to shape you and grow you into who He wants you to be.
